The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway is an apt paradigm to apply the psychoanalytic theory. The old man’s dreams in the book are a projection of his innate desires which reflects the author’s life as well.
“Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall,
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall;
All the king’s horses and all the king’s men
Couldn’t put Humpty together again.”
But is that all to it?
It’s okay to judge books by their cover. Ideally, the main purpose of the book cover is to get judged. Isn’t it?
Books may be lifeless, but they are indeed life-long companions.
